| It's no secret these
days around her adopted hometown of Los Angeles that Dallas Texan
Brenda Burns is a singer's singer and a writer's writer. The youngest of
four musical siblings, Brenda debuted at age 2 singing on "THE SUNSET RANCH",
a nation-wide television show on which her father, sisters and brother
performed regularly. Brenda's father JOHNNY BURNS who played fiddle with
SPADE COOLEY among others, involved his children musically with such associates
as RED FOLEY, THE WILBURN BROTHERS and other country music greats of that
era. Age 11 brought a recording debut for Brenda with a single on
an independent Dallas label, TORNADO RECORDS. A subsequent move to
L.A. gained notoriety for the Burns family as a tight vocal harmony section
on countless recording sessions and performances. Brenda went on to a career
as a vocalist that included work with such major artists as TANYA TUCKER,
THE TCB BAND (Elvis' final backing unit), DOBIE GRAY, MARIA MULDAUR,
ART PEPPER, EDWARD JAMES OLMOS, KENNY ROGERS, DOTTIE WEST, JOHN MAYALL,
BOBBY WHITLOCK, GEORGE BURNS(!) and toured extensively as a
featured lead vocalist with Texas greats ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. Burns had
a prominent vocal role in the legendary "GOSPEL NIGHTS" album, recorded
live at Mc Cabe's which featured MARIA MULDAUR with the Burns sisters and
THE CHAMBERS BROTHERS. More recently her vocal work has received worldwide
attention for her lead singing contributions to the first solo CD of legendary
blues guitarist JUNIOR WATSON (Long Overdue - Black Magic/Black
Top) and for her essential vocal and guitar work on the solo debut release
of her longtime musical partner JOHN "JUKE" LOGAN (The Chill -
Sky Ranch/Virgin). |
